PLNU Jazz Festival
Jazz Festival at Point Loma Nazarene College.
Very nice venue, everyone enjoyed it last year.
8am - Arrival meet up in front of the music building at PLNU (MAP)
8:30am - Warm-up
9:15am - Performance
9:35am - Clinic.
10am - done. I do suggest sticking around to watch other middle schools perform. San Elijo and Pacific Beach middle are after us.
Dress is Jazz Shirts, NICE black on the bottom and NICE shoes!!!

8:00am – SNACK TIME (Bring Something Healthy NO SUGAR!)
9:00am – Load up busses at Standley.
10:00am – Arrive at Marshall MS.
10:30am – Orchestra Warm-up
11:15am – Orchestra Performance / Concert Band Watches
12:00pm – Concert Band Warms-up.
12:45pm – Concert Band Performance / Orchestra Watches
1:30pm – Load Busses and head home
2:00pm – Arrive at Standley.
Knott's Berry Farm Festival (Copy)
All classes will be participating in a Forum Festival on Friday March 6th, 2026. The trip is not mandatory or part of a student’s grade. Below you will find a link for the payment information and requirements for the trip. The itinerary for the trip is not set yet, performance times will be available late January. You can go look at last year’s trip into for reference. Please email me with further questions, rflores1@sandi.net. Trip info sheet and sign-up form also available in the music room. DRESS: Students should show up to school dressed in their Standley Music Polo / Jazz Shirts. Black pants / Skirt, Black socks and black dress shoes (like winter concert performance). Students are welcome to bring something to change into for the rest of the day at Knott’s Berry Farm.

Jazz Band - Opening Ceremony Little League
Jazz Band will be playing pre-game music and performing the National Anthem.
7:00am - Set-up begins (FLORES)
8am - Call time at PAVILIAN STAGE
8:30am - Music starts, families should start arriving
8:45am: Teams will line up along the pool fence
9:00am: Ceremony begins with a parade of teams from the pool fence to the stage area, taking their places on the grass (GONNA FLY NOW)
9:15am: Opening remarks
9:20am: National Anthem
9:30am: Band is free to QUIETLY leave.
9:25am: Ceremony continues with more talking, pledges, first pitch...
Approx 9:45-9:55: Otter Pop Run concludes the ceremony
10:30am: Games begin
10:45-11:30: Clean-up and break-down
Students performing and playing baseball can wear their Baseball uniforms. Everyone else is in casual gear with jazz jersey.

District Honor Band and Orchestra
Dear Students & Parents,
Thank you for your interest in this year’s SDUSD Honor Band and Orchestra Auditions! It’s our pleasure to serve as the middle school managers, and we are excited about this year’s experience. We look forward to making this an excellent learning and performing experience for our students in the district. Below is essential information you need to know, so read it carefully, share it with your parents, and mark these required dates on your calendar. Please note no fees are required for this event.
Honor Auditions
DAY and TIME: Tuesday, January 28th, 2025, 5:00 - 9:00 PM
LOCATION: Madison High School - Check-in room: Rm. 903 (behind the theatre, beside the band rm.) 4833 Doliva Dr, San Diego, CA 92117
Before the audition, please check the dates below before committing to the process because ALL rehearsals are required. Absences for any reason will result in the removal from the ensemble.
You may sign up online for an audition between January 7 - January 24th using a link provided by your music teacher. This link will also be posted on the VAPA Honor Ensemble page, which can be found here starting on Jan. 7. The required audition material is listed on page 2 of this letter and it is now posted on the honor ensemble page, linked here, with access to the audition materials.
